Description

Lemon Glow®' is a non-invasive UConn cultivar that stays where planted. It features bright chartreuse foliage that holds its neon color in summer heat without scorching. Because it lacks thorns, it makes a safe low hedge for walkways. Its tight, compact form requires almost no pruning. Highly resilient and cold-hardy, this variety resists deer, rabbits, heat, and drought once established

Plant Care

Water

Drought tolerant once established

Fertilizer

Early spring, just before new growth starts. Use minimal, balanced, slow release, granular fertlizer like 10-10-10

Pruning

No need to prune since it’s a naturally compact, mounded shape that stays tidy on its own.

Seasons of Interest

Leaves emerge in a fresh, bright chartreuse hue. Tiny, fragrant yellow-to-white flowers appear in mid-to-late spring. While relatively small, they provide a valuable early food source for pollinators.

In full sun, the foliage turns a "citrusy" yellow and is will not scorch in the heat of summer.

The vibrant yellow begins to take on subtle orange or reddish highlights as temperatures drop.

This deciduous shrub will lose its leaves in late fall or early winter. But, its mounded form provides structure in the winter landscape.
