Description

This stunning Russian Sage adds high drama when planted in groups in full sun. This improved, early-blooming variety is highly compact and perfect for smaller spaces. Dense branches covered in vibrant purple and blue flowers create a beautiful glow against its silvery-green foliage. Adored by pollinators all season from spring to fall, it is extremely low-maintenance, cold hardy, and drought-tolerant once established.

Plant Care

Water

Water regularly; allow soil to dry down between watering. Drought tolerant once established.

Fertilizer

In early spring, just as new growth begins to emerge, use a balanced, slow-release granular fertilizer like 10-10-10. Do not fertilize after mid-summer as it encourages tender new growth that will be killed by the first winter frost.

Pruning

Remove dead foliage in fall or early spring before new growth emerges.

Seasons of Interest

Compact cluster of delicate silvery-green foliage emerges in spring. Foliage is dense and dramatic.

Dusky purple calyxes with blue flowers emerge along tall stalks in mid-summer, persisting until fall. One of the best flowering perennials for hot, dry locations, thriving on little care.

Colorful calyxes dry to give the appearance of blooming into the fall.
